I had a recall on my Chevy Silverado 1500 for a ground strap. While it didn't seem like a major issue, I wanted it taken care of since it was a recall. I had already visited Terry Labonte Chevrolet in Greensboro, where they confirmed the part was needed but didn't have it in stock. So I decided to go to the Emporia dealership instead. I called ahead and spoke with a woman who said she needed to verify everything. She went ahead and scheduled an appointment, and I received a text confirmation with the date and time. When I arrived, the service advisor asked if I had confirmed the part was in stock — and sure enough, it wasn't. At that point, my wife and I had already driven 20 miles to drop off my vehicle since I had to work the next day. That meant two vehicles making the round trip — 80 miles total between the two of us. And gas isn't cheap. Despite the inconvenience, no one offered so much as an apology, let alone any compensation for the wasted time and fuel. If the part wasn't available, that's understandable — but don't schedule an appointment and have me drive out there for nothing. To make matters worse, I had to come back on another day, adding yet another 40-mile round trip. I chose Emporia because I'm not comfortable with the Chevy dealership here in Roanoke Rapids, and I didn't want to drive all the way to Rocky Mount. I thought Emporia would be the better option, but unfortunately, the experience proved otherwise.
